As I research all the things related to the Anthropocene, I’m struck by the use of language.
Critique. Normative Claim. Maxim. Narrative. Futurity. Acceleration.
There’s definitely more words that stood out to me but I honestly can’t remember all of them.
Some writings are clear and concise. Others feel overly-verbose to the point that I feel like I’m reading some kind of ancient (or future) esoteric text.
This has made me think more about the way I write and think. Do I over complicate things? Is it necessary sometimes/all the time to do so? Is my writing vague?
I’m still thinking about how I want approach this capstone. I think documenting my current experiences can be a component because it would allow me to reflect on the mirco moments that are related to this macro moment of the “Anthropocene”. I think the purpose of the project will be about thinking through a new narrative to counter dystopic ones. I think by new narrative I mean a fiction book of some sort. Perhaps a collection of short stories inspired by these micro moments of my own.
However, I’m really nervous to tackle such a project…
What would my objective be? I guess I would want future generations to see themselves as having a future to look forward to.
